The Advantages of CSS in brief

The EyePlot Digital website was created using CSS. CSS stands for Cascading Style Sheet. It is a process of seperating structure from appearance in your XHTML documents. CSS commands can be placed inline with the document in the <head> section of your document. However typically commands are placed in a seperate .css text file.
CSS is an easy language to use, but a fairly difficult language to truly master. This is sheerly down to the number of commands available and the relationship between those commands on the page. Let's say we want to create a style for a heading tag, <H3>. In your style sheet, you set the color of your H3 tags to red, like so:
H3 {
color:red;
}
Now as oppose to traditional markup techniques, should you have twenty <H3> tags on your page, and decide you would rather display your headings in green, you no longer need to scan through your entire document changing font tags within each heading. All we now have to do is change the command in the style sheet.
As you can imagine if you have a large number of tags, whatever they may be, this method can save you an enormous amount of time and effort.
Additionally using CSS to style your documents means you no longer have to rely on tags such as the font tag. This means your markup documents are much leaner which in turn will help you climb higher in the search engines, and also increase page loading times on slower computers that do not benefit from a broadband connection.
