Focusing your Website

Date: 24/10/2006

Janet Jackson, co-owner of R2J2 Studios says "Every website decision you make should be thought about in terms of what your customers need,". R2J2 Studios are a Web design company for small businesses, and to meet their visitor needs she suggests focusing your website towards one of the following three general styles:

Relationship-building website

This type of site focuses of developing relationships with it's visitors over time. It encourages, interaction and communications by providing visitors with valuable information while requesting and information from visitors in return.

These websites offer educational information and motivate repeat visits. They are designed for businesses which benefit by interacting with their customer base.

E-commerce

An e-commerce website can simply sell one product (a software program for example), sell many products, or a service. Transactional e-commerce websites are designed to cater for visitors ready to make purchases.

Information Based

This final type of website is based around the provision of information; primarily of marketing nature, and invites visitors to learn about the site owner's company and what it offers. This type of site is a good choice should you be expecting customers to call or visit after researching your company online.
