Maintain Good Business Ethics

Just as honesty is the best policy in life, having good business ethics is also important and essential. Basically, when you make it a point to adhere to good business ethics all the time, you have lesser worries and the people with whom you are doing business also reciprocate in a similar fashion. A long lasting and powerful business can only be built on a strong foundation of good ethics. The basic principles of good business ethics are enumerated below.

1.In business, you will always get the opportunity to make an extra buck by dubious means. However, if you can resist that temptation, you will find that you will not lose much at the end of the day and most importantly, you will have a good night’s sleep. It is desirable to be honest and fair in all your dealings. If you quote a fair price and represent yourself honestly, you will find that you will get repeat business at some point of time.

2.If you find that the person with whom you are doing business is not ethical, then continuing doing business with him will be bad for the future of your business. As such it will be advisable that you should stop doing business with him.

3.Your initial business offer to your client should be transparent, without any hidden clauses as fine print between the lines. Your customer will appreciate your candidness and honesty and will keep coming back to you and also recommend you to his friends and relatives.

4.Whenever you do business, if you put yourself in your client’s position and try to imagine what he would be thinking of your offer, you will automatically develop a better insight of where your business transaction is heading.

5.If at any time during a business transaction, you feel that you can clinch the business by sacrificing business ethics or if any such suggestions are given to you by the opposite party, it would be preferable to walk away from that potential business.

The aim of doing business is to earn money but experience shows that it is only those businessmen or business entities that do not compromise business ethics that survive the test of time. Those who are tempted by immediate gains and sacrifice their ethics for the same do not last long.
